Stila Glitz and Glam Palette Review

One of my Black Friday buys was the Stila Glitz and Glam palette from Sephora. Usually just the palette is $14 but I got this one for $10 and it came with Stila's Lip Glaze Raisin.

The palette contains 4 eyeshadows, a blush and what they call a bronzer but is actually just a highlighter.

From left to right the eyeshadows are: Glam, Glitter, Glow and Glitz (Glitz is really sheer and kind of hard to see) These are all swatched on Too Faced Shadow Insurance.

On the left, Illiuminate is the highlight shade and on the right Amore is the blush:

In the palette, they include a how-to guide for the colors:

They also include a Lip Glaze in Raisin:

These are my lips with nothing on them:

It looks like a darker red in the tube, but actually goes on pretty sheer.

I went to see the Nutcracker Ballet the other day and wore the Stila palette.

I tried the same eye look that they have in their look card and it looked really neutral on the lids

I was really excited to test drive a pair of the earrings that I bought from the lovely Mary and Dyer!

Overall I think that it is an ok palette though. For someone who has the Naked palette and Too Faced's Neutral Eye, it isn't something that really excites me. I own their South Beach palette as well though and that's one of my favorites!

My Black Friday Haul!

I had a great Black Friday this year!

Sephora had a deal going on where they would send you a free bag stuffed with samples and these were all of the samples I got!

I can't believe they had good sized samples of things like Bare Minerals Mineral Veil and Smashbox Halo foundation! And that they all came in the adorable Hello Kitty bag!

I got the PMD personal microdermabrator off of Groupon for $89- It's normally over $200! The rest I got from Sephora and Ulta- Sephora's website was crashing all morning so it took forever!

I waited an hour and a half outside of the Coach Outlet at 9:00 on Thanksgiving to get a good deal and got the bag and wallet for $150!

And Ralph Lauren was basically next door with everything 1/2 off so I had to get one of their polos!

I am definitely pleased with everything I got this year (I got other stuff too, but these were my most exciting purchases!) and can't wait to review it all!

Sephora Rouge in The Red

I know it's been awhile since I've posted anything and I haven't meant to be away for so long, but it's been a trying week! I've just been so bogged down by school and work and just felt depressed in general that it has been hard to get anything done. But now I'm back after doing some retail therapy last nite/ this morning!

Awhile back, I got the Sephora Favorites Bestseller's and it had Sephora Rouge in The Red in it.

I didn't intend on doing a review on it, but I was so impressed when I wore it out the other night that I had to! (I don't know why it looks pinkish in this pic, but it's actually an orange-ish red!)

This is how the color looks on the lips:

I was concerned all night that it was going to fade off, but this is how it looks after a night out eating and drinking, 9 hours of sleep, breakfast and chasing 2 dogs down a 4 block area! (Don't mind my crazy makeup-less face!)

I got home late and was too tired to wash off my face and this is how it looked the next morning! Lipsticks never last very long on my lips even with primers, so needless to say I was super impressed with the staying power of this one! Plus it went on creamy and wasn't too drying on my lips like a lot of lipsticks are.

Too Faced Sweet Dreams palette Review

Recently, Too Faced put out several Christmas collections all of which I am dying for! I got one of them- the Sweet Dreams palette. It contains 15 eyeshadows, 2 blushes, 1 highlighter, 1 bronzer and a tube of Shadow Insurance and costs $52 at Sephora.

From left to right, these are Chocolate Soleil, Cocoa Rose, Sweet Pink and Candlelight Glow. Candlelight Glow is basically completely sheer and just a shimmer.

From left to right: In the Buff, Peach Fuzz, Copper Peony, Teddy Bear and Lovey Dovey- In the Buff and Peach Fuzz are both completely sheer and are good as highlighters (you can't really see them at all on my hand)

From left to right: Satin Sheets, Cut the Cake, Party Girl, Nice Ash and Smolder. Satin sheets is sheer while Smolder and Nice Ash are greyish tones- I'm still figuring out my camera, so please be patient with me!

From left to right: Honeymoon, Label Whore, Nice Stems, Cop a Teal and First Dance. Label Whore is actually a gorgeous iridescent and pulls green and purple!


Overall, I love this collection and LOVE Too Faced as a whole!

Drew Barrymore Covergirl Look

I've seen this ad in magazines for a while and have been itching to try something similar. I'm not really a huge fan of Drew Barrymore, but I think she looks completely gorgeous here!

*Philosophy Hope in a Jar Moisturizer- I'm actually pretty tan and had to lighten my skin color for this look. The foundation and powders made my skin look flat, so the moisturizer helped to re-luminize me!

Theatre of the Nameless

The first time I saw an Illamasqua campaign, I instantly fell in love with them. They are crazy and over the top, but still manage to look amazing! This is one of the looks from their newest campaign Theatre of the Nameless, that inspired me the most:

 I wanted to do something that was loosely based on the picture, but not quite as crazy. (Disclaimer: This look is for fun; I would not wear it out!!!!)

It's kind of a shame that as much as I LOVE Illamasqua campaigns, I have never actually used their products!!! But I plan on trying them out soon. Hope you enjoy the look!

October Birchbox Review

After much anticipation, I finally received my first monthly Birchbox last week!

It contained:
*Befine Lip Exfoliator
*Caudalie Vinoperfect Cell Renewal Night Cream
*Laura Gellar Spackle Tinted Under Makeup Primer in Bronze
*Orofluido Beauty Elixir
*Oribe Shampoo and Conditioner for Beautiful Color

I was a little nervous to get this box after seeing some of the things that other people got, but was really excited once I saw what was inside!

The Befine Lip Exfoliator was the thing that excited me most in the box. Unfortunately, it was a major letdown. The grains in the formula are super small and there aren't very many in there so you don't really get much exfoliation at all.

Instead, I would recommend Victoria's Secret Smooth FX which has larger exfoliating grains in it for more sloughing off of dead skin or Mary Kay's Satin Lips set which has a lot of smaller grains and works pretty well.

The next item I was really excited about was the Laura Gellar Spackle primer in Bronze. There wasn't really much bronzing in it, but as a primer it was nice and did not make my skin feel greasy like a lot of primers do. Overall, I think that I would buy it again. At $25, it does a good job.

I'm never really that excited about skin cream, but this one is actually really good. As soon as I put it on, my skin felt softer. The next morning, my skin did have a little more brightness to it as well. For a 30 ml bottle, it costs $68 so it's a little pricey, but I would consider buying it as I really like how it made my skin feel.

My hair is SUPER dry, so I am always on the hunt to find to something that will help tame the little frizzies that pop up. Unfortunately, this is not it. It is a little thicker than most of the serum's that I have used, and did not really work all that well.

Two products that I find always work pretty well for me are:

I really like Shu Uemura Essence Absolue Nourishing Protective oil which is similar to the Orofluido, but not quite as thick. Bed Head Biggie After-Party is my other go to frizz banisher, but is more of a cream instead of an oil.

The Oribe shampoo and conditioner was actually pretty nice and made my hair really soft. As it was an extra, the price was not listed so I looked it up and found it for $39 each bottle. Although it was nice, I don't think I would really spend $80 on shampoo and conditioner!

Overall, I was impressed with this month's Birchbox and CAN'T WAIT for next month's already!
