Depotting 101- Palette Edition

Lately I've been in a depotting frenzy! My makeup has slowly and surely overtaken all of my available space and more, so I began to look for other storage options and I found depotting to be the best.

So without further ado, here is Depotting 101- Palette Edition!

You will need:
-A flatiron
-Wax paper
-Tweezers or cuticle scissors
-Labels and magnetic strips
-An empty magnetic palette such as Z Palettes or MAC empty palettes (I personally prefer the Z palettes)
-Makeup palettes to depot

Step One
Get your palette's out and ready to depot.

Step Two
If there are any extra parts on the palette, remove them before heating the palette.

Step 3
Heat your flat iron to the hottest setting. Put a sheet of wax paper over the heating plate and set the part of the palette that contains the metal pots directly on the heating plate. Leave the palette on for about a minute, until the glue is heated and tacky.

Step 4
Remove the palette from the flatiron and using the tweezers or cuticle scissors, you should be able to easily pry the metal pans up. Be VERY careful with this step as the metal pans will be extremely hot- I burned my fingertips and still have scars from a depotting session I did a month ago!

Step 5
Adhere the magnet and a label to the bottom of each pan.

Step 6
Arrange the pans however you want to in your palette!

I have to say that depotting my makeup has made my life SO MUCH EASIER! Instead of having masses of containers everywhere taking up lots of room, I now have 7 Z-Palettes organized by color and can actually see all of the makeup that I have.

Here's a tip though- I depotted my Urban Decay Anniversary palette and most of the shadows died on the way out :(   So any palettes that use a hard plastic may be better to not depot.

Such a shame about your Urban Decay Anniversary palette, at least you should still have the trinket box.
