Eco Emi January Box

I'm always excited to see my Eco-Emi box in the mailbox! Because of my recent life change, I have really been appreciating the Eco-Emi boxes! This one came a little late and with the break-in is even more belated!
This month's was a wintery theme with little snowflakes inside!

                                                                     In this box, I got:
               * Tea Gschwendner in Acerola Fruit Tea as well as Murani Green Tea- $8.56 for 100 grams
They included the bags as well so that you can make your own bags which I thought was pretty cool. I haven't tried them out yet, but am usually really picky about tea so we'll see how it goes!

*Sprouted Organic Quinoa by Tru Roots- $6.47 for 6 oz. bag
I've tried this in a few recipes and have definitely liked it. It did take a little getting used to though!

*Honeydew Spearmint lotion by Deep Steep- $9.95 6 oz.
I didn't love the smell on this one, but it had a decent texture...

*Organic Fair Trade Coconut Oil- $7.69 for 8oz
I LOVED this and actually ended up buying an entire jar!

*Grapefruit Seed and Orange Peel Liquid Laundry Detergent by Biokleen- 32 loads for $6.56
I haven't really tried any of the laundry detergent packets yet as I have made my own recently!

*Lip Tint by J.R. Watkins- .09oz for $4.99
The color of this wasn't really for me, but I would definitely try out a different color!

*Endangered Species Lip Balm by Merry Hempster's- .09oz for $2.99                     This was my favorite thing in the box! The flavor is great and the texture is amazing and keeps my lips moist!

*Organic Eyeliner in Black/Brown by Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques- $12.00
I really liked this- it is smooth and works well. They have sent this brand in Eco-Emi boxes before and I have liked the products every time, so this is just a good company overall!

*Organic Hand Purifier by Doctor Cleangreen- 1.5oz for $7.95
This I am definitely not a fan of! The smell is not great and it leaves a weird feeling on the skin, kind of like an oily or greasy feeling.

October Eco-Emi Box

Eco-Emi will occasionally allow people on their waiting list to buy unsold boxes that they have each month, so last month while I was waiting for my first box, I bought one of the October boxes that they had left over. Unfortunately it still got here after my November box.

This is what came in the box:

Candle in Rejuvenation by Big Dipper Wax Works- 2 oz. $5.00, 6 oz. $9.50
This is supposed to smell like sweet orange and clove and did have a spicy scent to it, but it was very faint and I almost burnt my nose trying to find the scent! So I would not buy this in the future as I like my candles to have a stronger scent.

Organic Vegan Lip Balm by Crazy Rumors- .15 oz $3.49
This lip balm is SUPER soothing on my lips and I LOVE it! I am not a huge fan of the flavor which is Orange Bergamot, but maybe I'm just overly picky because my husband loves it! I would definitely buy this after I run out of the one they sent me- maybe in a different flavor!

Vegan Organic Mulling Spice by Simply Organic- 1.2 oz $2.19
I gave this to my sister as I don't like this type of thing and she was not overly impressed with it.

Gin Gin's Boost Ginger Candy by The Ginger People- 6 pack 3 oz bags $16.99
I gave these to my sister too (I am super picky with food!) and she said that they were REALLY gingery, so if you are a fan of ginger you would probably like these!

Herbal Soap in Almond Spice by Herbaria- 4.5oz $5.95
This soap has kind of a spicy scent to it. I use a special body wash, so i put it in a little net baggy type thing and use it as a sachet in one of my drawers!

Vegan Organic Bars by Rise Foods in Blueberry Coconut- 12 bars (1 case) $22.68
I really liked this! It didn't have a strong flavor to it, but I loved how you could taste the coconut in it. It is somewhat small, so $22.68 is pretty pricey for it, but I would definitely think about buying a case.

Organic Fair Trade Oolong Tea in Peach Blossom by Zhenas Gypsy Tea- 15 bags $10.95
This was supposed to be a blend of like a green tea flavor and black tea and it was in a pretty little sachet-like bag. I regularly drink raspberry leaf tea and nettle tea, but I thought this tea was TERRIBLE! I couldn't even down the entire cup it was so bad! I would absolutely not buy this tea. Also, I get my organic tea for much cheaper (like $5.00)!

Neuma Hair Care Line- Prices vary, $15-$25
I got several samples of Renew Shampoo and Conditioner, Blow Dry Lotion, Style Texturizer and Soothing Creme. I haven't had a chance to try them out yet; but will update when I do.

I love that you always get so much to try out in their boxes compared to the Birchboxes and most of it is still decently sized! I feel like that gives you more of a chance to find something that you love!

November Eco-Emi Box

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

I've been trying to edit my blog some, so if it looks funny at all that's why! As Google is shutting down GFC for all non Blogger blogs, I working on adding other ways to follow me.

I'm kind of obsessed with the monthly sample boxes. Recently I found one called Eco-Emi that sends out different green products. I am very conscious about what I eat, but have not been so picky about beauty products unfortunately. This is an excellent way to be exposed to more green products and try them out before investing in them.

When I first saw my box this month I was super excited!

I was most excited to try out the clay mask by Blissoma:

It has a pleasant smell, but overall I was not horribly impressed with it. It tingled while it was on and I thought it would be great, but it left my skin with a weird texture after I washed it off.

I was also really excited for the shampoo, but I was not overly impressed with it either. It didn't really suds up much in my hair and I had to use more of it than my normal shampoo to get it to work at all.

The hand creme was nice and moisturizing on my hands, but I did not really like the smell at all.

This was something else I was excited to try out and I did like it. I am using it as a highlight as it doesn't really have much discernible color to it; just shimmer. I do wish that they would have sent a color instead so that I could see if they are pigmented well, but I do want to try out more from this brand.

I really love this and definitely want to check out the brand's non-toxic nail polishes too! The lip balm has a minty smell and does tingle a bit, but keeps my lips soft with a hint of a shimmer.

I normally don't use a lot of mist type things, but I really love the smell of this one- it's like a really light vanilla with a hint of citrus.

This was a decent dark chocolate- It was a little bitter but still pretty good!

I'm not really into buttons, but it's cute if you like that kind of thing I guess. I'm just going to give it to my sister as I'm just not into them.

Overall, I was a little disappointed with the way some of the items worked out, but I did find a few products that I really like and love testing out green products.

Beauty Sample Delivery Services

Recently I saw an ad for Birchbox on Facebook and ever since then have become OBSESSED with all of the beauty delivery services out there! These services deliver anywhere between 5-10 so called deluxe beauty samples to your door usually monthly and sometimes even have full sized products in them. They can cost anywhere from $10-$40. To me there is nothing better than getting a box of beauty goodies to try out for so cheap, so I got a little crazy and subscribed to Birchbox, Eco-Emi and NewBeauty Test Tube!

So far, I've only gotten the NewBeauty Test Tube so will be only reviewing that one today. The NewBeauty Test Tube is sent out four times a year and costs $29.99 plus $8.95 shipping. They are only sent out at certain times, so it will say on the website when it has shipped. Mine took a couple of weeks to get to me after they said it had shipped, so it takes a while.
http://testtube.newbeauty.com/Program.aspx

In my Test Tube I got:
*NewBeauty Magazine
*$20 Spalook gift card- This is pretty much worthless as you have to spend $100 to use it...
*Full size L'Oreal Paris Elnett Hairspray- This was a decent hairspray and costs $14.99. It's not really any better than others I've used, so I don't think I would really seek it out again.

*Orlane Absolute Skin Recovery Smoothing Foundation .11oz- This was nice and lived up to its name smoothing my face well. At $70 for a full size bottle, I don't think that it's something I would use though.
*SpaRitual Handprint Hand Serum .25oz- This is something that I really liked as hands are one area that really show aging. I don't know how well it works for anti aging, but it made my hands feel nice. I would definitely think about buying this. This goes for $60 for a 4oz. bottle. I think that it is comparable to the  MaryKay satin hands set which I LOVE!
*Pevonia Botanica Ligne Rose Care Cream .7oz- This was an extra that wasn't listed in the book. I didn't really like it as it did not smell good at all. It is meant for people who suffer from rosacea which I don't so it may be worth it for those people. It costs $71 for a 1.7 oz bottle.
*Dr. Brandt Pores No More Vaccuum Cleaner .4oz- This seemed to work pretty well on my blackheads and I would consider buying it in the future. The full size costs $40.

*Lashfood Natural Eyelash Conditioner .05oz- I used this for about a week and did not notice any change. It does say that you are supposed to use it for 4-8 weeks however. The full size 8ml costs $120.
*Mally Evercolor Starlight Waterproof Eyeliner fullsize- This went on very smooth and I liked it a lot. I will definitely look into buying this brand of eyeliner in the future. This typically costs $15.

*YBF Beauty Posing Plum Lip Liner fullsize- This is probably one of the best lipliners that I have ever tried! It went on extremely smoothly unlike a lot of the brands that I've tried and the color was pretty. It also has a built in sharpener on the lid! It costs $8.

*Macadamia Natural Oil Healing Oil Treatment and Deep Repair Masque 1oz- Move over Moroccan Oil! This is by far my favorite thing in the tube. I got it the day after I dyed my hair platinum and it was AMAZING on my frazzled ends!!! It is $39 for a 4.2oz oil treatment and $30 for an 8.5oz deep repair masque and I will definitely be getting more!

Overall I think that I will definitely try this program out again. Even though I didn't like a few of the products, the hairspray, lip liner and eyeliner alone covered the cost of the tube.
